I had 2 courses with Sophie, which helped me a lot here in France! Not only did I make good progress with my french, I also enjoyed the learning process!

Sophie is the most unique foreign language teacher I've ever meet. The core Sophie's strength in French teaching is linked with a fully adjusted and customized approach to student's background and needs. Sophie builds learning plan based on the results of the initial French test, student's objectives and questions that come up during the education period. Sophie is very open and supportive of the questions and additional needs that the student has. In cases you wish, Sophie will always provide some extra materials for an individual work or will prepare and devote some time to the question during an upcoming session. And you can share your questions and needs about every aspect of the foreign language learning- from grammar to a particular vocabulary! Importantly, Sophie creates and supports a very open and positive rapport with her students! She even gives some hits & tips on life and culture in France.

After exchanging pleasantries, the charming French gentleman I was sitting next to on the airplane from Marseilles to Paris said to me (in French) "I simply refuse to believe that you learned to speak French as you do via Skype. I thought you were French!" I have been taking lessons via Skype from Sophie for over a year. Our sessions are both relaxed and productive. Sophie makes the learning process fun and funny, and always interesting. We have discussions about culture, history, politics, and the quotidian and somehow vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation are worked in painlessly. She has the ability to make corrections while simultaneously bolstering one's confidence. In my small mountain community, we have a group of Francophiles and Sophie is able to tailor her lessons to a variety of skill levels, interests, and levels of intensity all while making each student feel uniquely gifted.

Sophie is the gifted one, a very special teacher.

I had taken years of French in school and had been living in Paris for roughly 5 years before I met Sophie. Even with all the background including several more courses in Paris, I still did not have the level I desired. 12 courses with Sophie and I can honestly say that in the time we spent together my level of French exponentially increased. Sophie is an amazing teacher - she has the keen ability to really understand students' needs and adapt a proper and effective framework. She is kind, intelligent, graceful, and so attentive.

It never felt like I was going to class but more so catching up with a friend. Sophie makes learning a pleasure and she is just an overall fantastic individual.

I have studied French with Sophie since January, 2014.

At the beginning, I was a little nervous, but soon, with Sophie's help, I was comfortable. Sophie is always on time. She is very nice, organized, stimulating, and flexible.

I have a lot of French information in my head, but I need to practice with conversation. Sophie begins conversations which cover many subjects. I very much enjoy the homework from Sophie. It is perfect for me and for my capabilities.

Although I may never be fluent, thanks to Sophie, I can understand and speak this beautiful language with my francophone friends in the US and when I travel to France.

Sophie and I started French lessons one year ago. To be honest, I was a bit intimidated by the thought of using Skype and taking a private French lesson.

To my surprise and delight, I have found a half hour with Sophie to be incredibly valuable. It is true; Sophie is perceptive and meets each student at his or her level. She is honest in her assessment and creative in her ability to move a student forward. I have appreciated the practice of conversing…or trying to.

Sophie is very organized. Feedback is immediate with a list of vocabulary words and examples of their use. The homework is designed to help each student progress. Sophie selects videos to enhance listening skills and provides questions or tasks related to the video.

Payment is made simple with the use of PayPal.

I truly believe Sophie is not only a talented French professor, but also a kind and generous person whom I am lucky to call a friend.

I have had the incredible good fortune and pleasure of studying French with Sophie Mouren over the past several years.

When I am in Paris I study with her privately and when I am back in the U.S. we continue our lessons via Skype. Over the years, I have studied French in a variety of language schools with many different teachers. I can say unequivocally that Sophie is among the best of those teachers, if not the best. She has the rare ability to understand perfectly what I require and to provide me the information, clear explanations and exercises to effectively address those needs. "I took a French course with Sophie for 2 months. Sophie created a course specific to my goals. I wanted to improve my conversational French. At each meeting, we talked about many subjects, from religion and politics to books, movies and bikes. Sophie would note my mistakes in vocabulary and in grammar. My homework then used my new vocabulary and grammar, which I found to be very useful.

Now, I think that I manage better in my everyday use of French and I am a little more at ease when I speak French.

Sophie loves the French language and her passion for it is contagious. It is a joy to study with Sophie!"

Dovevo stare a Parigi due mesi e sono partita con un livello di francese a dir poco elementare...non capivo praticamente nulla quando parlavano! "Um von meinen Paris-Aufenthalt profitieren zu können, habe ich mich entschlossen, die Prüfung fürs DALF C1 zu versuchen.

Weil Vorbereitungskurse für das DALF schwierig zu finden sind, habe ich mit Sophie zu arbeiten begonnen. Auch wenn sie noch nie eine Schülerin/einen Schüler auf einem solchen Niveau gehabt hat, haben wir eine Art gefunden, wie wir zusammen arbeiten können. Sie hat mir meine Texte korrigiert und mir jeweils ein sehr nützliches und verständliches Feedback zurück gegeben. Neben den gewöhnlichen Korrekturen, erhielt ich beigefügte Kommentare zu persönlichen Mühen bezüglich Grammatik oder Wortverständnis. Oft schleichen sich Übersetzungsfehler ein, wobei Ausdrücke im Französischen nicht Wort für Wort aus dem Deutschen übersetzt werden können. Gemeinsam haben wir dann die richtige Ausdrucksweise gefunden. Die Zusammenarbeit mit ihr empfand ich als sehr angenehm, unkompliziert und förderlich.

Ich möchte Sophie herzlich danken für ihre Unterstützung, was nicht zuletzt zum Erfolg der Prüfung geführt hat! Dankeschön. "

I simply wanted to thank you for this great year I spent in Paris.

I remember our first "rendez-vous", to which I arrived late and you told me that that would be the only time you would speak to me in English! My first thought was, "how will we manage to understand each other! I'm I understanding well??". After this year, and many lessons, I am proud to say I can understand and keep a conversation or any meeting!!

I took French lessons with Sophie for 6 months. First we set goals that I have achieved.

The journey in this language was sometimes difficult because of my job, but Sophie was always able to adapt the plan lessons and create a pleasant learning environment.
